A2A’s relations with residents, customers, institutions and all the reference communities also pass through the means of communication which transfer information on the life of the Group and the individual companies that are part of it to all of their interlocutors.
In 2011 the Group’s press office noted a considerable increase in activities, resulting from the wish to be increasingly present in the areas that host its production activities with a precise and timely communication. The arrival of an important expiry date, such as that for the shareholders’ agreement between Delmi and EDF on the governance of the investee Edison, was a further reason for the increase in media relations activities, due to the need to inform the financial markets about how the Group’s reorganisation was proceeding.

A total of 183 press releases were issued during the year and 12916 letters were sent to newspapers (on average slightly more than one communication a day). Of the information sent, 59% was addressed to customers/users, the majority of which discussing matters connected with the Group’s environmental companies, 22% to residents, most of which relating to the production and environmental performance of the Group’s plants, with specific concentration in the region of Campania, with the remaining 20% of communications, mostly relating to progress in the Edison reorganisation, having shareholders as a target.

Meetings with journalists

The Group held 25517 meetings with journalists in 2011 (interviews and one-to-one meetings, press conferences, etc.).

Media monitoring and reporting

A2A’s press office has also set up an activity for providing internal information that is aimed at the Group’s general managers, who receive a daily selection of articles regarding the Group and its activities taken from the main press agencies.
